2003-2007 Meeting Minutes

• The  Star City Pontiac Club meeting was held January 12, 2003, at Mama Maria's, Salem, VA, with President Chris Reynolds presiding and 15 present.
• Our chapter agreed to donate $25 to the Annual MDA Car Show to be held at the Roanoke Civic Center, February 28 through March 2, 2003.
• The new club emblem was approved and changed to reflect a multi-lined (blue and white, if in color) star with the Pontiac crest (red, if in color) at its center with the word "Pontiac" going through both of them.
• Judy Akers and Christi Reynolds agreed to handle the chapter scrapbook.  An Activities Chairman will be appointed at a later meeting.
• Our spring BOP Car Show will be held on May 3 (rain date May 10); location is indefinite.  Randy Hurt will check on prices of dash plaques and award trophies which will be used for future car shows.
• New members are:  James E. Brown, Sr. (Oil Can) from Blue Ridge, VA, and Thomas Christenbury from, Troutville, VA.
• Our next meeting will be held February 9, 2003, at Western Sizzlin, Franklin Road, Roanoke, VA, at 5 p.m.

• The Star City Pontiac Club meeting was held February 9, 2003, at Western Sizzlin, Franklin Road, Roanoke, VA, with President Chris Reynolds presiding and 18 present.
• Chris and Christi Reynolds will enter their 1969 Firebird and Steve and Linda Snead will enter their 1966 GTO in the Annual MDA Car Show to be held at the Roanoke Civic Center February 28 through March 2, 2003.
• A motion was made and approved by the Club permitting Chris Reynolds to prepare flyers for the 7th Annual Spring Buick Olds Pontiac GMC Truck Show tentatively scheduled to be held at Midpoint Chevrolet Pontiac Oldsmobile Buick GMC in Rocky Mount, VA if Berglund gives him the okay to have the show on May 3, 2003 (rain date May 10).
• Randy Hurt will check on cost of dash plaques and award trophies at CMT for our spring and fall car shows.
• Tom Overholt agreed to serve as our Activities Chairman this year.
• Chris Reynolds requested that members, who participated in car shows last year, give him a listing of the shows and how they placed if awards were presented.
• Chris Reynolds is making business cards for all members that will show each member's car on his/her card.
• We have another new member, Charlie Tull of Boones Mill, who owns a black tri-power 1966 GTO. 
• Our next meeting will be held at Mama Maria's, Salem, VA, on March 9, 2003, at 5 p.m.

• The Star City Pontiac Club meeting was held March 9, 2003, at Mama Maria's, Salem, VA, with President Chris Reynolds presiding and 17 present.
• Chris and Christi Reynolds' 1969 Firebird took one of the top three cars at the Annual MDA Car Show held at the Roanoke Civic Center, February 28 through March 2, 2003.  We also appreciate Steve and Linda Snead entering their beautiful 1966 GTO in this show.
• Our Annual Spring Buick-Olds-Pontiac-GMC Truck Show will be held May 3, 2003, (rain date - May 10) at Midpoint Chevrolet-Pontiac-Olds-Buick-GMC, 17801 Virgil Goode Hwy. (Route 220N), Rocky Mount, VA.
• We have another new member, Jim Rumford, Roanoke, VA.
• Our next meeting will be held at Mama Maria's, Salem, VA, on April 13, 2003, at 5 p.m.

• The Star City Pontiac Club meeting was held April 13, 2003, at Mama Maria's, Salem, VA, with President Chris Reynolds presiding and 16 present.
• Our club received a donation of $200 from Berglund Chevrolet towards our Midpoint BOP & GMC Truck Show to be held on May 3, 2003 (rain date May 10, 2003).   A club member, Ron Ferguson, also donated $100 to be used for the purchase of trophies since the club members voted to give trophies at this show.
• Club members are to arrive at Midpoint (Route 220, just outside Rocky Mount, VA) at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, for our spring show.
• We have another new member:  Ray Miller, Vinton, VA.
• Our next monthly meeting will be held on May 18, 2003, at 4 p.m. at Fishburn Park, Brambleton Avenue, SW, Roanoke, VA (across from Shenandoah Life Insurance Company).  Each member should bring his/her own food basket and enjoy the fun and fellowship with our club members.

• The Star City Pontiac Club meeting was held on May 18, 2003, at Mama Maria's Restaurant, Salem, VA, with President Chris Reynolds presiding and 17 present.
• Our club's Annual Spring Buick-Olds-Pontiac-GMC Truck Show, sponsored by Midpoint Chevrolet-Pontiac-Olds-Buick-GMC, Rocky Mount, VA, held on May 3, 2003, was a success although there were rain showers.  We had 23 entries at this show of which three became new members.  We had great assistance from all members in attendance.  Chris and Christi Reynolds' 1969 Firebird won "best in show" and received a nice large trophy. 
• Our club presently has 33 members, including four new members:  Buddy Dix, Jeff Patterson, David and Cindy Reams, Roanoke, VA, and Bev Moulse, Salem, VA.
• Club members participating in the Greenhill Park Car and Truck Show, Salem, VA, to be held on June 7, 2003, are to meet at Mama Maria's Restaurant, Salem, VA, at 8 a.m. and depart at 8:15 a.m. for this show.
• Our next meeting will be held at Fishburn Park, Brambleton Avenue, Roanoke, VA, (across from Shenandoah Life Insurance Company), on June 8, 2003, at 4 p.m.  Each member should bring his/her own food for this event.

• We discussed our fall Pontiac-GMC Truck Show and decided to have it on September 20, 2003, (rain date - September 21), at Home Depot, 3217 Hershberger Road, NW, Roanoke, VA.  We owe many thanks to Home Depot for their sponsorship of this upcoming show
• Our next meeting will be held at Fishburn Park, Brambleton Avenue, Roanoke, VA, (across from Shenandoah Life Insurance Company), on July 13, 2003, at 4 p.m.  Each member should bring his/her own food for this event.
• Our August meeting will be potluck at the home of Steve and Linda Snead on August 17, 2003, at 4 p.m.  Thanks for the invitation, Steve and Linda.

• The Star City Pontiac Club meeting was held on July 13, 2003, at Fishburn Park, Roanoke, VA, with President Chris Reynolds presiding and 19 present.
• It was announced that the 2nd Annual Star City Motor Madness Cruise-In Car and Truck Show, which was held on July 3 and 4, 2003, received approximately $32,000 from this event.  The money will be donated to The Virginia Museum of Transportation located in downtown Roanoke.
• Our club decided to buy dash plaques and wall plaques which will show two of our club members' cars-David Ream's Trans Am and Charly Tull's GTO.  These plaques will be used for our fall Pontiac-GMC Truck Show to be held on September 20, 2003, (rain date - September 21), at Home Depot, 3217 Hershberger Road, NW, Roanoke, VA.
• Our club members made plans to cruise our Pontiacs to the Pink Cadillac Diner, Fancy Hill, VA, (just north of Natural Bridge) on July 27, 2003, for dinner.  Members are to meet at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store (rear parking lot), Troutville, VA, (I-81, Exit 150-B) at 3 p.m.  Cruisers will travel via Route 11 through Troutville and Buchanan, which is a more scenic, relaxed, and safer route to the restaurant. 
• The August 17, 2003, meeting will be potluck at the home of Steve and Linda Snead at 4 p.m.

• The August 17, 2003, meeting of the Star City Pontiac Club was held at the home of Steve and Linda Snead, Salem, VA, with a potluck cookout.  Many thanks to Steve and Linda for hosting this meeting.  We had a wonderful time, and the food was delicious and plentiful.
• President Chris Reynolds presided at this meeting with 15 present.  Charly Tull reported that he will have chapter members' shirts embroidered with our newly designed chapter logo ready for distribution at our September meeting.
• Plans for our September 20, 2003, (rain date-September 21), Pontiac-GMC Truck Show to be held at Home Depot, 3217 Hershberger Road, NW, Roanoke, VA, were discussed. 
• Our next meeting will be September 14, 2003, at Fast Freddy's, 816 West Main Street, Salem, VA, at 4:30 p.m.

• The Star City Pontiac Club meeting was held September 14, 2003, at Fast Freddy's, Salem,VA.  President Chris Reynolds presided at this meeting with 23 present.
• Three club members participated in Olde Salem Days on September 13, 2004, with their fine Pontiacs. 
• Shirts with our new club emblem embroidered on them were distributed at this meeting.
• Plans for the Saturday, September 20, 2003, 7th Annual Star City Pontiac Injun Uprising Pontiac GMC Truck Show to be held at Home Depot, Hershberger Road, Roanoke, VA, were finalized.  Berglund was notified that our club's fall show would not be held at their Woodson Pontiac lot.  Chris Reynolds reported that he had ordered 50 dash plaques for this show.  Home Depot still declined to donate money for the show but offered to rope off the parking lot on Friday evening so that it would be ready for our show on Saturday morning.  Home Depot also authorized our use of their restrooms during the show and will loan tables for our use.
• Midpoint has agreed to sponsor our club for the 2004 Spring BOP-GMC show.
• Our next meeting will be held on October 12, 2003, at 5 p.m. at The Grill of the South (formerly Charcoal Steak House), 5225 Williamson Road, NW, Roanoke, VA.

• The Star City Pontiac Club meeting was held October 12, 2003, at The Grill of the South, Roanoke, VA.  President Chris Reynolds presided at this meeting with 16 present.

• Our September 20, 2003, 7^th Annual Star City Pontiac Injun Uprising Pontiac GMC Truck Show held at Home Depot was a great success.  Many thanks to all who participated in this event.  Our Club will give trophies at future car shows for longest distance traveled, best paint job, etc.

• Charlie Tull will host our Christmas party at his home in Boones Mill on December 14, 2003.  Members are to bring gifts to this party not to exceed $15.00 per gift.  Men should bring a man’s gift and women should bring a woman's gift.

• Our next meeting will be held on November 9, 2003, at 5 p.m. at The Grill of the South (formerly Charcoal Steakhouse), 5225 Williamson Road, NW, Roanoke, VA.  Election of club officers for 2004 will be held at this meeting.

• The Star City Pontiac Club meeting was held November 9, 2003, at The Grill of the South, Roanoke, VA.  President Chris Reynolds presided at this meeting with 17 present.

• Club members approved a donation of $150.00 to benefit medical expenses for Arnie Beswick and $150.00 for Good Neighbors Fund.

• Officers for year 2004 were elected and are as follows:  Chris Reynolds, President; Steve Burak, Vice President; Steve Snead, Secretary and Randy Hurt, Treasurer.

• Our club has a new member:  Alan Stark & Daphne, Henry, VA, who owns a 1965 GTO.

• Our club Christmas Party will be December 14, 2003, at 5 p.m., hosted by Charlie and Carol Tull, Boones Mill, VA.  Members are to bring gifts to this party not to exceed $15.00 per gift.  Men should bring a man’s gift and women should bring a woman’s gift.  Members should also bring either a dessert, salad or vegetable dish.

• Due to inclement weather, the Star City Pontiac Club's December 14 Christmas party was rescheduled for January 25, 2004, and will be hosted by Charlie and Carol Tull at their home in Boones Mill, VA.

• Our monthly meeting was held on March 14 at Ragazzi's Italian Restaurant in Roanoke with 19 in attendance.
• The invocation was given by David Cundiff.
• After the meal, club president Chris Reynolds called the meeting to order.
• The club was advised of the sudden passing of longtime member Stan Cumbee. A gift of $50.00 from the club treasury was approved and given to the Pembroke Charity as requested by the family in lieu of flowers. Stan, a very active member of our club, will be greatly missed.
• Plans for our upcoming Spring Car Show to be held on May 8 with a rain date of May 9 at Midpoint Pontiac were discussed. A signup sheet for items needed for the show was passed around. Chris urged each member to come up with at least one door prize for the show.
• Trophies and dash plaques were discussed. For the dash plaques, it was decided that we would use Ron Ferguson's 99 Anniversary TA and Tom Overholt's 69 GTO. Other possibilities were George Akers' 71 Grand Ville Convertible, Carl Slate's 55 Star Chief, and Russell Cannaday's 57 Star Chief. These will be possibilities for our Fall and future shows. Chris advised we have 22 trophies left over from last year's show so we would only have to purchase 8 more for this show. He also came up with a way to modify them so as to make them a little different. The 3 star ornament on top can be replaced with an ornament which will hold the same club emblem that was used on the fall plaques. We already have the emblems so the cost will be minimal. Chris also advised that Midpoint had agreed to give us $200 to help with the show. One additional award was approved, that being an award fro Best Paint.
• Finally, Carl Slate advised he would secure insurance for the Midpoint show.
• A flyer was passed around for members to consider the purchase of jackets through CMT with club logos to be embroidered on them. The cost per jacket with logo will be $40.00 with small logo and $65 with a larger one to be placed on the back. The flyer will be circulated again at the April meeting and orders can be placed at that time.
• The next meeting will be held April 18 at Mama Maria's in Salem.

• Our monthly meeting was held on April 18 at Mama Maria's Italian Restaurant in Salem with 23 in attendance
• The invocation was given by club Vice President Steve Burak.
• After the meal, club President Chris Reynolds called the meeting to order.
• Treasurer Randy Hurt was not present so the Treasurer's report was delayed to the May meeting.
• Plans for the upcoming Buick, Olds, Pontiac, GMC, and Cadillac show to be held May 8 at Midpoint Pontiac were finalized. Chris again urged members to gather door prizes to be given away at the show. Chris advised that Midpoint had agreed to give us $100 for the show, which would offset the purchase of dash plaques and additional trophies needed. We also discussed the purchase of a canopy to be used for the snack booth and signup desk. Chris advised that he had placed show info to be included in the Roanoke Times and also Smoke Signals. Carl Slate had secured and brought the insurance coverage for the show. The signup sheet was again passed around for items needed for the show. We look forward to a great show and a good turnout for the event. We also discussed that we are still looking for a location and sponsorship for the fall show. One possibility discussed was Duncan Automotive in Salem.
• Chris advised that he had reported to POCI on our membership roster. We now have 42 club members and associates, a 47% increase over last years' number. We are constantly looking for fellow Pontiac and GMC owners to join our club.
• Orders for club shirts are still being taken. The shirts are yellow with the club emblem embroidered on them. The shirts, supplied by CMT Sporting Goods are $20. Orders for jackets are still being considered and will be discussed at a future meeting.
• A new aspect of our meetings which Chris suggested would be that of time allotted for classified ad announcements form club members looking to buy, sell, or trace car related parts, etc. Some items mentioned  were: 1. Rob Fariss is looking for an engine to put in a '72 Grandville. 2. Chris Reynolds has a new quarter panel in box for 69 Firebird. 3. Jim Rumford needs a Rochester or Carter 4bbl carb and a driveshaft yoke for a 400 trans. 4. Jack Akers advised he would like to sell a 2 bbl carb and intake for a 350-400 engine.
• The next meeting ro be held on May 16 will consist of a tour of Sink's Chevrolet Museum near Blue Ridge at 2:00 PM. We will then cruise back to Famous Anthony's on 460 for our meeting at 5:00 PM.

• The invocation was given by club Vice President, Steve Burak.

• After the meal, club President Chris Reynolds called the meeting to order.

• Treasurer Randy Hurt presented the treasury report.

• Our spring car show was discussed and all agreed it was a success. We had 25-30 entries of various makes-Pontiac, Olds, Buick, Cadillac, and one GMC Caballero which got the People's Choice Award. Everyone thought the trophies turned out well. We had a large number of door prizes donated thanks to the efforts of club members.

• Plans for the fall show are beginning to be made. We hope to get a new sponsor for the fall show and the location and date will be announced very soon.

• Possibilities for a club outing were discussed, one being a cruise to the Starlight Drive-In in Christiansburg. No date was set.

• Upcoming events were announced: Poker Run- May 23-Longwood Pard in Salem, Festival in the Park Show- June 5, Star City Cruisers Show at Tanglewood Mall on June 12,and Star City Motor Madness-July 2-3.

• Chris and Christi Reynolds won a top 30 out of 80 entries with their '69 Firebird Convertible at the Botetourt VoTech Show on Sat. May 15.

• Classifieds for this month included: Ray Miller looking for rebuildable 350 engine, Rob Fariss still looking for 350-400 engine, and Chris Reynold has alum, intake for 350 engine for sale as well as the 69 Firebird qtr. panel.

• Our next meeting will be 5:00 P.M. June 13 at Mama Maria's in Salem.

• Our monthly meeting was held on July 11 with a pot luck picnic at the home of Steve and Linda Snead. We had 27 to attend.

• The invocation was given by Steve Burak before our feast of various goodies brought by club members and families.
• We were pleased to welcome 2 more new club members:  Bruce and Joyce Mitchell owners of a '67 Lemans convertible
• Also we had 1 guest:  Derek Kotheimer, owner of a '72 Lemans.
• President Chris Reynolds had a short meeting following the meal and brought us up to date on plans for our fall show.
• The date for the fall show will be September 25 and most likely will be held at Duncan Mitsubishi in Salem once final details with the dealership are worked out. Also, Duncan hopes to sponsor our Spring Show at their Pontiac/GMC location in Christiansburg.

• Steve Burak advised that Star City Motor Madness on July 2-3 was huge success for the Transportation Museum. He also thanked club members for their help and participation downtown on Sat.
• Steve also fielded thoughts from the club that we participate in the local bike drive for the upcoming Christmas season with the club purchase of a bike to be donated for the drive. All present were in favor of this idea and we will follow up on this at a future meeting.
• Our next meeting will be held on Aug. 8 with our tour of Sink's Chevrolet Museum rescheduled for that day at 2:00 P.M.

• On August 8, our afternoon began with an outing to Sink's Chevrolet Museum. What an incredible collection of cars, displays, and memorabilia! Our thanks to Rocky Sink and his family, and Ken Spangler for opening their homes and museums for our enjoyment.

• After the tour, we all met at Famous Anthony's on 460 East for our dinner and meeting.

• The invocation was given by Steve Burak.  After dinner, Chris Reynolds presided over the meeting.

• Treasurer, Randy Hurt advised us of our checking account balance.

• Steve Burak brought us up to date on the success of Star City Motor Madness. Approximately $30,000 was raised to benefit the automotive wing project at the Transportation Museum.  Steve also discussed further our clubs participation in the bike drive for Toys for Tots coming up this Christmas season.

• Chris welcomed new members and advised our club membership is now at 53 members and associates.

• A number of club members had attended car shows this summer and came home with top awards. Charlie Tull won a Gold award for his 66 GTO at the National POCI Convention in Joplin, Mo. Carl Slate won Best GM other than Chevrolet at the Chilhowie car show on July 3 for his 55 Pontiac. Carl also won 1st Place in Antique Original class at the Buena Vista show. Ron Ferguson also won top awards at Chilhowie and Buena Vista for his 30th Anniversary T/A. Charlie Tull and David Reams also were at the Floyd car show.

• Upcoming events noted were: Sept. 11-Olde Salem Days. Sept. 18-Cathedral of Praise Car Show. Sept. 25- Star City Pontiac-GMC Show at Duncan Mitsubishi in Salem. Oct. 2-Buchanan Festival. Oct. 16-Vinton Moose Lodge show. Oct. 23-Tanglewood Mall show Help Us Help Kids.  

• Plans for our fall show were discussed and a sign up sheet was passed around.

• Chris advised that Jim Sanders, Mgr. at Duncan Mitsubishi had pledged $700 toward awards and plaques for our show. Thanks! Jim.

• Chris is working with CMT Sporting Goods for the purchase of Plaques.

• We agreed that Carl Slate's 55 and Chris Reynolds Collector T/A would be featured on the plaques.

• Chris urged all members to solicit or contribute door prizes for the show.

• Our September meeting will be held on the 12th at 5:00 P.M. at Mama Maria's in Salem.

• We were pleased to welcome new member Jack Strickler.

• Members attending recent Car shows and receiving awards were:  Chris and Christi Reynolds went to The Trans Am Nationals with their '69 Firebird and received top award for heavy custom.  Ron Ferguson attended the Rich Creek Car Show held today and won a trophy for Most Unique Car, his '99 T/A convertible Ann. Edition.  Carl Slate also attended the show and won Best GM with his '55 Pontiac

• Plans were finalized for our Pontiac-GMC-Buick-Olds-Cadillac Show to be held at Duncan Mitisubishi on Sept. 25.

• Chris advised that Duncan had pledged $xxx to sponsor the show. 

• Trophies and dash plaques have been ordered. Both feature photos of Carl's '55 Pontiac and Chris' T/A Collector Edition

• Members were urged to keep collecting door prizes for the show and to be at Duncan Mitsubishi at 8:00 A.M. on the 25th to setup for the show.

• Our next meeting will be held on Oct. 10, 2004 5:00 P.M. at Mama Maria's

• Following the meal, Chris Reynolds called the meeting to order.

• Chris gave a report on our Fall Car Show held at Duncan Mitsubishi.  We had 30 entries with 15 entries from outside of the club.

• Jim Sanders, mgr. of Duncan Mitsubishi was very pleased with the show and advised he would like for us to do it again.

• Carol Cundiff has volunteered to take over the sign up sheet for the club and is providing a tote to store supplies for future shows. Thanks! to Carol.

• No treasurer's report was available at this meeting. We hope to have final results of our show at the Nov. meeting. 

• Chris advised that he has received a special magazine subscription rate from Primedia, the co. that publishes High Performance Pontiac. More info. will be availabe at StarCityPontiac.org 

• We have shirts available with logos already embroidered on them for 19.00. 

• Steve Burak again presented the Toys for Tots bike drive and the club agreed to donate $100 to the cause.

• Also the club voted to donate $200 to the Good Neighbors Fund for this Christmas season. 

• Our next meeting will be held on November 14 at 4:00 at Mama Maria's.

• Club member Jack Akers gave a short program on things to do to winterize our cars for storage.
• He also advised that the final figures were in for Star City Motor Madness and that $60,000 was raised during the event to benefit development of the automotive wing at the Virginia Museum of Transportation.
• Treasurer Randy Hurt was present and advised our checking account balance, less the donation that was approved for the Toys for Tots bicycle drive.
• Club members attending local fall shows were Judy Akers and Ray Miller. Judy won a top 25 for her 97 Trans Am and Ray won a top 25 award for his 66 Impala SS convertible. The show was held at the Wal-Mart at Valley View Mall in Roanoke
• Steve and Linda Snead attended the Vinton Moose Lodge Show and brought home a top 50 award for their 66 GTO.
• Chris advised we are still trying to get an order together for club jackets. Charly Tull is looking into getting non hooded ones.
• Our next meeting will be our Christmas party to be held on Dec. 12 at the home of Charlie and Carol Tull. We will meet at 4:00 and Chris will be sending out flyers with directions to the Tull's home. Everyone should bring a covered dish. The meat will be provided. Also each person should bring a gift ($15.00 limit) for a gift exchange. We are looking forward to this event.

• The Star City Chapter had it's December meeting/Christmas party at the home of Charlie and Carol Tull with 31 members, spouses, and guests present. Many thanks to the Tulls for opening their home to us and for their gracious hospitality. The evening began with a social time and a short business meeting. Club officer nominations were confirmed and voted on by those present. Officers for the 2005  remained the same with: Chris Reynolds, President; Steve Burak, Vice President; Steve Snead, Secretary; and Randy Hurt as Treasurer.

• Our club project for this holiday season included the donation of 2 bicycles to the Toy for Tots program here in Roanoke and and a $200 donation to the local Good Neighbors Fund sponsored by The Roanoke Times newspaper. Donations go to the needy of our valley.
• During the meeting we remembered member Stan Cumbee who passed away suddenly this past year. A card was signed to be sent to his wife Debbie. Also, past president Jack Akers and Judy could not be with us as Jack's father passed away. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them.
• After a great pot luck dinner, we had a Chinese gift exchange. Everyone was after that Big Red Package. Congratulations to Michael Wheeler on ending up with that one.
• Our club has grown considerably over the last year, thanks to everyone's efforts and we look forward to many fun activities in 2005 including our spring and fall car shows and the POCI convention in July. Many of our members have already registered and made reservations. We hope to see many of our fellow POCI members in Greenville!

• Our January meeting was held on January 9 at Mama Maria's in Salem with a record 42 in attendance.
• The meeting began with a social time and our invocation was given by Steve Burak.
• After the meal, President Chris Reynolds called the meeting to order.
• Charly and Carol Tull were recognized and thanked for their hospitality in having our Christmas Party and Potluck dinner.
• It was requested that members bring in recipes for their dishes at the February meeting to share with other members.
• New member Nikki Fannin was recognized.
• Treasurer Randy Hurt advised the club of the checking account balance after the $200 Good Neighbors Fund donation during their recent drive.
• Steve Burak gave an update on the Transportation Museum and Star City Motor Madness which in last 3 yrs has donated over $100,000 for the advancement of the automotive wing to the museum. They are looking for additional volunteers to work at this years event to be held on the 4th of July weekend. Workers are needed to help park the cars early the morning of the downtown car show. Anyone interested can contact Jack Akers or Steve Burak.
• Chris reported that the plaque of appreciation to Rocky Sink of Sink's Chevrolet Museum had been delivered by Wayne Reynolds and Rocky was very pleased.
• Upcoming events include the MDA Car Show at the Roanoke Civic Center Mar. 4-6.
• Our spring car show is tentatively set for May 14 at Duncan Pontiac in Christiansburg.
• POCI convention coming up July 12-16 in Greenville, S.C.

• He advised he had sent our check to the Good Neighbors Fund since the last meeting. We were reminded that the 12.00 yearly club dues need to be paid. Membership also requires each person pay their POCI dues also.

• Plans are beginning to come together for our spring car show. The show is tentatively scheduled for May 21 at Duncan Pontiac in Christiansburg, Va. Due to the AACA meet on May 7 and the Piedmont Show in Greensboro on May 14, the show was moved up to the 21st. Chris showed us a new design for the flyers and plaques which met the club's approval.

• Chris also advised that Gary Duncan had invited us to tour his collection of cars at their Duncan Ford location after the show on the 21st.

• Chris challenged all members to solicit door prizes for the show.

• We have a number of club logo shirts for $20.00 and hats for $10.00 available.

• Our next meeting will be on March 13 at 4:00 P.M. at Mama Maria's. We urge all members and prospective members to attend as we continue to plan and get volunteers to help with the show.

• Jack Akers gave an update on Star City Motor Madness set for July 3-4 with Cruise night on Williamson Rd. on July 3 and the Car show in downtown Roanoke on July 4. The event won the status of top fundraiser for 2004 and they look forward for additional growth this year. The event benefits the automotive wing at the Virginia Museum of Transportation. This year the cruise area is being expanded and will run from the Civic Mall (Former Sears building) out to Happy's Flea Market. This year a Harley group will gather at Happy's with various activities planned. The main location will still be at the former Woodson Pontiac location(now Berglund Credit Line).
• Several of our club members participated at the MDA car show at the Roanokd Civic Center in March. They were: Charly Tull with his '66 GTO,Rob Fariss with his '69 Firebird T/A clone, and Scott StClair with his Firebird T/A Sharkmobile.
• Our Spring car show is set for May 21 at Duncan Pontiac/GMC  2630 N. Franklin St. Christiansburg, Va. 24073 Phone: 540-381-2000 from 10 AM-3 PM. We will have 17 classes available with a class for works in progress. Notices of the show have been posted with Smoke Signals, Hemmings, and Hi perf. Pontiac magazines.
• Club members are still urged to gather door prizes to be given away at the show.

Dash Plaques have been ordered and Chris Reynolds is working with Kudo's Trophies for the awards. The show has been listed on upcoming events with The Roanoke Times.

• We welcomed newcomer, Jeff Patterson to the club. Jeff has a '91 Trans Am GTA which he has owned since new.

• The club approved continuance of our website and approved the 35.00 fee for the next year.

• Chris advised that he hoped to set up a classified ad section on the site in the near future.

• Plans for our Spring car show set for May 21 at Duncan Pontiac in Christiansburg  were finalized.

• Chris advised he had received 5 Magazine Subscriptions from High Performance Pontiac as well as Gift Certificates from Ames Performance Engineering. He urged club members to keep collecting door prizes for the show.

• The success of our spring show were discussed. The club took in xxxxxx at the show which included the sponsorship money from Duncan Pontiac. Many thanks for them having us and making our show successful. All comments from the Duncan staff were positive and they hope we can have future shows at that location.

• Thanks to our show, our club treasury now stands at xxxxx.

• We had 42 entries at the show with some entries from West Virginia and North Carolina. 44 trophies were given out in the various classes as well as an appreciation plaque to Duncan for having us.

• Several of our members attended the Pontiacs at Pigeon Forge this month. Ron Ferguson received a 1st place trophy for his '99 Trans Am Anniversary and Carl Slate placed 2nd in his class for his '55 Pontiac. Congratulations to Ron and Carl.

• We have 15 members planning to attend the POCI Convention in Greenville, S.C. July 12-16. David Cundiff suggested the club pull together a display for a booth at the convention. Any members having banners, photos, videos, were encouraged to bring them to the next meeting before the convention.

• Darrell Wheeler suggested that we setup a Stanley Cumbee Memorial Award to be given out at a future show. Stan, a long time member of the club passed away suddenly last year.

• Our next meeting will be held on July 10th-5:00 P.M. back at Frank's.

• Chris recapped their trip to the POCI convention in Greenville. 6 club members along with their cars brought back 6 awards with Gold awards going to Carl Slate-'55 Star Chief, Charly Tull-'66 GTO,Chris Reynolds-'69 Firebird, and Jerry Kling-'87 Fiero.1st Place in the popular vote were Ron Ferguson-'99 Anniversary TA and Scott StClair-'00 Trans Am.
• Plans for our upcoming Fall Car Show were discussed. It will be held on October 8 at Grand Home Furnishings at Valley View Mall. Chris is working on ordering awards and dash plaques. Plans for a "Grand" Champion Award to be chosen by our sponsor and a Stanley Cumbee Memorial Award were discussed.

• After dinner, we had our business meeting. We thanked Jack and Judy Akers for having us for the summer picnic.
• Our treasurer, Randy Hurt advised we now have xxxxx in the club account.
• The club motioned and approved a $100.00 donation to the American Red Cross to aid the  Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
• Vice president, Steve Burak gave an update on Star City Motor Madness advising that the Automotive Wing of the Va. Museum of Transportation now has approx. $2.3 million to proceed with that project. This year's Motor Madness raised $40,000 and over the past 3 years had made $120,000 for the project. Also the project is looking for additional backing through a corporate sponsor.
• Club members participating in recent shows were Chris and Christy Reynolds, who went to the Trans Am Nationals in Ohio and came back with 3 trophies for their modified '69 Firebird Convertible. In addition to being in the winners circle for their previous awards, they got the Kid's pick trophy, a founder's award, and a 2nd at the cruise in. Congratulations!
• Carl Slate was in the recent edition of Smoke Signals with his '55 Starchief.
• Plans for our fall show at Grand Home Furnishings on Oct. 8 were finalized. Although Grand's would not give us monetary contributions, they are providing the great location at Valley View Mall and will  advertise the event. Also owner, Robert Bennett advised he would try and have his XXX '67 GTO movie car there and possibly his Bandit Firebird. A signup sheet was passed around for items club members will be providing. Chris advised he had taken care of dash plaques and award plaques.
• Flyers and registration forms were passed out for distribution.
• Our next meeting will be Oct.'09 at 4:00 P.M. back at Frank's on Brambleton.

• Our November meeting was held on November 13 at The Homeplace in Catawba, Va. Club members met in Salem and assembled for a cruise over the mountain to the Catawba valley. A number of our prized cars participated in the event.

• Thanks to Steve Burak for organizing and making reservations for us. The invocation was also given by Steve Burak.
• After a delicious homestyle meal, our meeting was called to order by club president Chris Reynolds. Chris gave us a report on our recent fall show at Grand Home Furnishings. Registration fees totalled xxx, plus xxx from 50/50 drawing and xxx from food and door prize ticket sales for a total of 1069.00. Considering we used a rain date, we were able to break even on expenses vs. receipts. Our treasury now has a balance of xxx.
• Jack Strickler was with us and advised his wife Faye was now at home and doing better after her recent illness and hospitalization. Jack thanked the club for all their prayers, cards, and concern shown during that time.
• Plans were finalized for next month's meeting and Christmas party to be held and the home of Charly and Carol Tull.
• A sign up sheet was passed around and members are encouraged to bring two pot luck dishes to the gathering to be held on December 11 at 4:00. Directions will be sent out in December's mailing.
• At the December meeting, club officers for next year will be nominated and elected. Chris  Reynolds announced he will not be running for president this year, but will remain very active in the club. Members need to think about replacements for Chris and other officers. The next president will have some pretty big shoes to fill as Chris has done an outstanding job in promoting and growing the club during his 3 years in office. Thanks from all of us!
• Chris advised of a friend of his who has a 70 Lemans for sale. It is in fair condition and priced at 1900.00. Contact Chris if interested.

• Jerry Kling, will be our Show Coordinator and Steve Burak, our Activities and Special Events Coordinator.
• Randy Hurt gave the treasurers report.
• Steve Burak circulated a survey sheet around getting club members opinions on things to do and outings for the club.
• Upcoming events are the MDA Car Show on 3,4, and 5. We discussed the possibility of having a club booth at that show and further discussion will follow at the February meeting. Charly also mentioned an upcoming Build a Street Rod class at the Roanoke VoTech center.
• We will be discussing plans at the next few meetings for our Spring Car Show, tentatively set for May 6 or 7 and possibly held at one of Berglund's locations or at one of Duncan's locations.
• Charly passed out a form for club members to sign up to participate in various areas at the car shows and also to make suggestions in a number of areas with regards to shows and other activities of the club. He asked everyone to take these home, fill them out and bring them back to the next meeting.

• Our February meeting was held on 2/12/06 at Frank's on Brambleton in Roanoke with 22 in attendance.
• Steve Burak gave our invocation and the meeting was called to order by club president Charly Tull.
• Randy Hurt gave the treasurer's report.
• A motion was made and approved that we take out an ad in the program for the Star City Motor Madness event coming up July 4th weekend here in Roanoke. $100 was approved for this ad.
• The next motion presented  and approved was that we start a 50/50 drawing to be held at each meeting. Each attending member puts $1 in the pot. A name is drawn from the entire membership. If the winning name that is drawn is not present the entire pot is added to next months 50/50 until an attending member's name is drawn.
• The next motion presented and approved was a new procedure for Judging and Awards at our car shows in the spring and fall. It was decided that the show become a participant judged show meaning that everyone who enters a car gets a ballot and has a voice in judging the show. The votes will be added up and the car with the most votes in that class will receive a "Best of Class" award. All other entrants in each class will receive a "Class Winner" award. Awards will be given out at 2:30 P.M.
• "Peoples Choice" awards will be limited to one vote per person attending with name of the voting person on the vote slip.
• There will also be awards for: Dealers Choice, Longest Distance Driven, Under Construction, and a Stan Cumbee Memorial Award. It was also suggested we have a Best Paint Award.
• Jerry Kling had a sample flyer and signup sheet for our upcoming spring show to be held May 6 at Duncan Pontiac/GMC in Christiansburg, Va.
• Jack Akers presented an update on laws regarding old cars. There is a bill coming up in the Va. General Assembly #HB288 brought by Del. Danny Marshall which would further limit the use of antique plates. It was suggested we contact our local delegates and req. they not vote for this issue.
• It was announced that Joanne Kling was going to be our "Sunshine Girl". Please advise her if you know of anyone in the club who is ill or has suffered the loss of a loved one. She will send out a card from the club letting them know we are thinking of them.
• Steve Burak brought us up to date on Special Events. The top picks from last months meeting were:
  • Cruise to the D-Day Memorial in April with lunch at the old Train Station in Bedford.
  • Cruise to the Peaks of Otter for one of their buffet meals.
  • Cruise to the Starlite Drive-In Theater in Christiansburg.
  • Meeting at Fast Freddie's on a Saturday afternoon and stay around for the Cruise Night there.
  • He advised we have a reservation for meeting and dinner at the Homeplace in Catawba for Oct. 8.
• Charly urged members to start collecting door prizes for the May car show.
• Finally, he advised that Keith Farmer of Straight Street here in Roanoke would like to organize a car show and asked if our club members would be interested in participating.

• Charly and David are in the process of composing a letter for local Pontiac dealers to send out to purchasers of new Pontiacs advising of our club and membership requirements and asked for any input club members might have.
• Further plans for the spring car show to be held May 6 at Duncan Pontiac/GMC in Christiansburg were discussed. Only 55 days before the show. Members are urged to gather or purchase door prizes to be given away and the show.
• Signup sheets were passed around for various items needed for the show. The show has been listed on Hemmings Website and in Smoke Signals Magazine.
• It was suggested that we consider also having a model car competition during our shows. Randy Hurt advised he would be willing to work with setting that up along with his DJ duties.
• Chris Reynolds advised he had updated our website with all the show info., flyers, and apps.
• Several posters were circulated to be placed out announcing the show.
• Jerry Kling passed around samples of some business cards for the club and would be having them printed for passing out.

• Our June meeting was held on June 10 at Fast Freddie's, a popular Saturday night cruise-in spot with 29 in attendance. A number of club members brought their classic Pontiacs out for the event.

• Treasurer Randy Hurt advised our account now stands at xxxxx. Our spring show at Duncan Pontiac grossed xxxxxx.
• Thanks to Wayne Reynolds salesmanship of 300.00 in blue door prize tickets.
• Plans for our Fall Show are already in the works. Show coordinator Jerry Kling advised we had secured the lot at Duncan Acura on Peters Creek Rd. in Roanoke for the October 7 event.
• Charly advised that a 7 of our club members had gone to the Greensboro Pontiac Show on June 3 and all rec'd class winner awards. Carl Slate won the Dealer's Choice award at that show.
• Also attended was the Pontiac at Pigeon Forge show. Awards won were Ron Ferguson's 99 Anniversary T/A, and Carl Slates '55 got Best of Show. Our club also rec'd Best Club Participation award.
• Activities coordinator, Steve Burak advised that our cruise to the D-day Memorial is now rescheduled for July 22 rain or shine. We will meet at the Food Lion Store on 460 E. that day at 11:00 and cruise to the memorial with a late lunch at the old train station restaurant in Bedford.

• Steve Burak gave our invocation and the meeting was called to order by club president Charly Tull. We welcomed Cal Saunder's dad, Pete Saunders as our guest this month. 

• Treasurer Randy Hurt advised our account now stands at xxxxxx. Randy reminded that any members who have not paid their dues for this year, please do so. They are 12.00/year and you are required to be a member of the national POCI to be a local member. 

• Steve Burak gave an update on the July 3-4 Star City Motor Madness. An estimated 20,000 vehicles cruised Williamson Road on Monday night July 3.

• Steve thanked all club members who helped out with the Prize Wheel and other aspects of the event. They do need volunteers for next years event. 

• We have a couple of club members with new cars. Christy Reynolds now has a 98 Trans Am Convertible and Darrell Wheeler just purchased a very nice '66 Grand Prix.

• Upcoming events are the club cruise to the D-Day Memorial on July 22 with lunch at the old Bedford Rail Station Restaurant; Covington Street Scene-Aug. 12

• Old Salem Days on Sept. 9; Roanoke Valley Cathedral of Praise Show on Sept.16 (an award for the club with the most participation); and our Fall Show at Duncan Acura on Oct. 7 

• Jerry Kling advised we have Business Cards printed that can be given out to prospective club members, flyers are printed up for the Oct. Show.

• He advised we need to start gathering Door Prizes for that show and we might ask vendors if they would want to sponsor some type of trophy for that show.
